Lake Margaret 7.13.2014

We headed to the dry forest for this one. We started out this hike with the wrong trailhead. The sign was a bit misleading. You have to hike up the road about 100 yards to find it. We spent a couple hours sniffing our an animal path confused and frustrated. The climb was nice. Not too difficult. The temps were around 90 degrees on the ascent and 50 once we peaked and headed down the other side to the lake. The snow was a welcome change of pace, but it became frustrating when we couldn't find the trail. Upon reaching the lake we were mobbed by mosquitos. Then, I realized that the dog had a torn pad on her paw and had to carry her 70lbs whiny body down the mountain. :( Beauty 7/10. Exercise 6/10

Lake 22 7.6.2014

This hike was surprisingly similar to last week's. Just like Bridal Veil Falls it had plenty of waterfalls and finished with an amazing lake. Lake 22, however, also had some incredible ice caves this time of year, and we remembered to take our swim gear. The water at the lake is snow fed and thus a chilly 45 degrees. The mountain surrounds the lake in a crescent and towers another ~800ft+ overhead. Be sure to stop about 3/4 the way to the lake. Off to the left of the trail you can see some amazing water Difficulty 6/10 Beauty 9/10 Famished from the hike, I stuffed myself with a Bent Burger.

Bridal Veil Falls and Lake Serene 6.29.2014

Do this hike. It is hands down the best one we have done yet. The trail, like many, starts of with a logging road that quickly thins down to a nice narrow path. The first mile and a half zigs and zags through a dense sea of high grown Salmon Berry bushes. After having our fill of these tart natural treats we come to a split in the path. We choose the direction pointing toward Bridal Veil Falls. After half a mile of easy climbing ladder steps we can hear the immense roar of fast moving water. Upon arrival, we realize that the one thing we missed out on at Wallace Falls was proximity to the actual waterfalls. At Bridal Veil you can stand right under them. Wow. Thinking we had seen the highlight of our trip, we set out for Lake Serene. It is another 2 miles from the fork in the path. The next 23 switchback and over 430 stairs is a fairly grueling ascent, but it is most definitely worth it. Lake Serene has a genuine calming serenity that holds up to its namesake. As usual, the pictures speak loud than words. 10/10 Beauty 8/10 Difficulty
